Dumpster Delivery Day in Yonkers: What Actually Happens

If you’ve never rented a roll-off dumpster before, delivery day is simpler than most people expect. Here’s the play-by-play.

Before the truck arrives

• Clear the drop spot. A roll-off truck needs a straight shot to back the container onto your driveway — move cars, trash cans, and anything low-hanging (basketball hoops, tree branches) out of the path.
• Boards down, if you’re placing it on pavement or a finished driveway. We can set the container on wood blocking to protect the surface — ask when you book if you want this.
• Know your window. We’ll give you a delivery window, not an exact minute — roll-off trucks run multiple stops a day and traffic varies.

When the truck arrives

The driver backs in, tilts the truck bed, and winches the container off onto the spot you’ve cleared — it takes a few minutes and the truck doesn’t need to fully stop moving for most of it. You don’t need to be home for delivery as long as the spot is clear and accessible; we’ll call or text when it’s dropped.

While you have it

• Load from the side or the swinging door on most containers — check your unit type when it arrives.
• Watch the fill line. Loading above the rim (or overloading heavy debris past the weight limit) can mean the truck can’t legally haul it — see our weight limits guide so you know what’s OK.
• Keep the prohibited stuff out — see what can and can’t go in a dumpster before you start loading.

Pickup day

Call or text when you’re done, or if you booked a set rental period we’ll pick up automatically at the end of it. The truck reverses the delivery process — hooks the container, tilts it back onto the bed, and hauls it off. No cleanup needed on your end beyond clearing anything you don’t want hauled away.
